1.0 FTE Permanent, K–12 Physical Education and Health Curriculum Consultant

Applications are invited for the position of K–12 Physical Education and Health Curriculum Consultant, effective September 8, 2026. The successful candidate will join the Curriculum, Assessment and Learning Services (CALS) team and report to the Divisional Principal of Curriculum.

Role of Curriculum Consultants within CALS
Curriculum Consultants provide system-level leadership to:
- Advance equity, inclusion, and belonging for all learners
- Support consistent, high-quality instructional and assessment practices
- Build educator capacity through job-embedded professional learning and coaching
- Promote Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and responsive teaching
- Strengthen alignment between curriculum, assessment, and instruction
- Support evidence-informed decision-making to improve student outcomes
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Consultants support teaching and learning by:
- Collaborating with school teams to implement divisional and school priorities
- Designing and facilitating responsive, sustained professional learning
- Supporting the development of inclusive, culturally responsive resources
- Modelling effective instructional and assessment practices
- Engaging in ongoing inquiry and sharing research to inform practice
- Supporting cross-divisional initiatives and system priorities
Specific Responsibilities: Physical Education and Health
The Physical Education and Health Consultant will:
- Provide leadership aligned with provincial curriculum, divisional priorities, and a holistic approach to student well-being (physical, mental, social, and emotional health).
- Partner with school leaders and educators to co-create inclusive, strength-based learning environments that foster engagement, achievement, and belonging.
- Support educators in implementing responsive, culturally grounded, and developmentally appropriate teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Lead and facilitate professional learning, networks, and opportunities that build capacity.
- Work collaboratively with CALS colleagues to advance shared priorities including well-being, anti-racism, Indigenous perspectives, inclusion, and student success.
- Model instructional and assessment practices and support co-planning, co-teaching, coaching, and reflection.
- Engage in inquiry, research, and program evaluation to inform continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership in the development and coordination of physical activity, healthy living, and school sport programming (K–12).
- Collaborate with the Athletics and Healthy Living Support position on divisional events and student opportunities.
- Provide guidance on systems and operations including resources, facilities, equipment, grants, logistics, safety, and risk management.
- Support equitable distribution and management of Physical Education, Health, and athletic resources.
- Contribute to workplace health and safety initiatives including CPR/First Aid and high-risk activity planning.
- Build relationships with provincial and regional organizations and community partners.
- Represent the division on committees and working groups related to Physical Education, Health, and student well-being.
- Support and facilitate divisional committees, athletic conferences, and related initiatives.
- Work in consultation with the Divisional Principal on budgets, grants, and strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with Facilities and Operations and partners to ensure safe, accessible environments.
Qualifications and Experience

- Experience building system capacity in Physical Education and Health
- Expertise in curriculum, assessment, and professional learning
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills
- Ability to lead change using a responsive, relational approach
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning
Required Qualifications
- Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
- Degree in Physical and Health Education
- Extensive teaching experience in Physical Education and Health
