TEMPORARY IT SUMMER SUPPORT
Position Title: IT Summer Support
Department: Learning and Information Technologies
Reports To: Assistant Director of Learning and Information Technologies
Location: Administration Office
Hours:
- July 2 – August 7: 0.8 FTE; Tuesdays to Fridays, 7 hours per day; No work on Tuesday, August 3
- August 10 – September 4: 1.0 FTE; Mondays to Fridays, 7 hours per day
Hourly Wage: $17.26 plus 4% vacation pay

Purpose of Position
The Pembina Trails School Division’s Learning and Information Technologies department oversees all technology throughout its 36 schools and admin offices.
Working with the IT Support Technicians & Computer Technicians, the IT Summer Support staff will assist with IT related projects. This includes:
- Assisting with imaging computers
- Count assets, parts, and equipment inventories
- Assist with appropriate storage and disposal of obsolete electronic equipment, and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
At all times, the IT Summer Support staff will work in close collaboration and under the mentorship of other members of the Learning and Information Technologies (LIT) Department.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Supporting basic IT projects
- Connecting and disconnecting computers and phones
- Re-imaging labs and laptops
- Supporting asset and inventory management
- Count monitors, computers, projectors, phones, and other equipment and compare against information in the LIT Department’s asset management system. Report on discrepancies.
- Assist with organizing the LIT storage area.
- Under direction, ensure obsolete equipment is disposed of securely and responsibly.
Skills and Qualifications
Skill and Knowledge – Required:
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Must have just completed or will be continuing to post-secondary education (in an IT related field is preferred).
- Knowledge of computers
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) guides.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Customer Service Orientated.
- Possess a valid Manitoba Driver’s License and have daily access to a reliable vehicle.
Skill and Knowledge – Desired:
- Some computer science related courses would be an asset.
- Basic Safety & health training would be an asset (e.g., ladder training, first aid)
