1.0 FTE Term, Middle Years Band & Music Teacher
Effective: September 2, 2025 to June 30, 2026
Arthur A. Leach School
- Grade 6-8 Band with Grade 5 music.
BAND
The successful candidate should;
- Hold a degree in Music Education
- Be comfortable modelling basic playing technique on all band instruments
- Have taken courses in jazz pedagogy
- Be able to communicate with an ensemble using appropriate conducting gestures
- Be familiar with concert and jazz band repertoire
- Be familiar with the current Manitoba Music Curricula, K-8 and 9-12
- Demonstrate willingness to collaborate with colleagues both in the school and across the division on projects and initiatives
MUSIC TEACHER – KINDERGARTEN TO GRADE 6
The successful candidate should be:
- certified in either Orff, Kodaly or Jaques-Dalcroze approaches to music education
- comfortable teaching in an Orff classroom
- able to model good vocal technique
- able to model good recorder technique
- able to use movement activities to support musical learning
- able to use a variety of strategies to help students to “think musically”
- familiar with the current K-8 Manitoba Music Curriculum
- familiar with Manitoba Provincial Report Card requirements
- willing to provide support for staff members using music in their classrooms
- willing to support learning across the curriculum in the music classroom
