Annual Salary Range:              $70,095 - $87,358 depending on qualifications

Purpose of Position

 

Under the direction of the Director – Facilities and Operations, the Maintenance Coordinator will work closely with the Maintenance and Utility Supervisors to ensure that the Division’s buildings and facilities are maintained in excellent operating condition and that all building systems run efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

· Working in conjunction with both the Maintenance and Utilities Supervisors, ensures that the Division’s physical facilities and grounds are maintained with the primary focus on the Division’s maintenance work order system in coordinating work of all F&O staff.

· Maintains the Division work order system in coordinating work of all F&O staff.

· Visits all facilities on a regular basis to verify/identify needed repairs and makes appropriate arrangements or recommendations for such work.

· Coordinates facility maintenance staff when multiple trades are needed.

· Ensures general maintenance work done by Divisional staff and emergency repairs are addressed with speed and efficiency.

· Prepares quotations and purchase orders for the procurement of maintenances supplies as needed. Verifies receipt of goods for invoice approval.

· Maintains records of work performed and ensures closure of completed work.

· Supports employee performance through regular communication, feedback, and training.

· Manages shop cleanliness and inventory levels.

· Maintains Divisional tools and equipment in safe and good working condition.

· Ensures the worksite is maintained in a safe and orderly fashion.

· Works cooperatively with other divisional staff and contractors.

· Provides relief for the Maintenance Supervisor or Utility Supervisor during absences as needed.

· Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the Department.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

Skill and Knowledge – Required:

 

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize.

· Strong communications and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to defuse conflict and deal with complaint and concerns effectively and professionally.

· Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with confidential information.

· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

· Five years’ supervisory experience in commercial construction, site coordination or institutional facility management.

· Working knowledge of general commercial construction practices and techniques.

· Working knowledge of office computer systems (Excel, Word, Outlook)

· Working knowledge of maintenance work software.

 

Skill and Knowledge – Desired:

 

· Journeyman Status in a trade skill and/or Post Secondary Degree in Facilities Management

· Prior experience in an educational environment.

· Experience in Workplace Safety and Health

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

 

· Work involves some standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

· Ability to lift objects weighing more than 25 kgs.

· May be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, and hazardous/poisonous chemicals.

· On occasion may be required to work beyond normal working hours, with little, short or no notice.

· A weekend or evening shift may be required as needed.

· Provide emergency response outside of regular work hours when required.
