1.0 FTE Permanent Student Support Services with a focus on EAL Support

This position will include a focus on EAL support

 

Support for EAL learners requires attention to language development and proficiency, intellectual, social, and emotional development, and citizenship education. Such support is maximized in an inclusive school environment that values diversity, bridges cultures, and builds feelings of belonging for all students.

 

The following outlines roles and responsibilities: 

• Be a member of the student support services team, including case management of students and the development of Student Specific Plans
• Support classroom teachers through consultation, collaboration and co-teaching
• Provide direct targeted language acquisition programming for individual students and small groups
• Provide focused English language acquisition instruction for students in specialized courses
• Assist learners in successfully integrating into and contributing to the classroom and school community
• Enhance choices and opportunities for learners to access and benefit from adult and post-secondary learning experiences.
