$28.11 to $33.76 per hour depending on qualifications Language Requirement: English Job Description Reviewed: January 16, 2025 Purpose of Position The Pembina Trails School Division’s Learning and Information Technologies department oversees all technology throughout its 36 schools and admin offices. Working with Computer Technicians, the IT Support Technician ensures efficient operation of the organization's computing environment. The IT Support Technician provides hardware, software, and network support on-site and remotely to the schools and admin offices. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining an eclectic array of hardware, software, and applications in instructional and administrative settings. Key Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Receives, triages, and responds to all incoming IT Requests, calls, and/or e-mails regarding technical problems. Analyzes, diagnoses, and resolves complex problems for end users, and recommends and implements corrective actions as needed. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs technology hardware and peripherals. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs diverse system and application software. Tests, and troubleshoots network cabling, audio-visual systems, and other low voltage building systems. Collaborates with other technology staff to ensure efficient operation of the organization's computing environment. Assists in maintaining accurate records in IT requests, IT asset inventories (hardware and software), configuration documents, technical specifications, and troubleshooting records. Assists with the deployment of new hardware. Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the Department Skills and Qualifications Skill and Knowledge – Required: College diploma or university degree in computer science or 2 years equivalent work experience. Experience maintaining and repairing stand-alone and networked computers, mobile devices, and other hardware peripherals. Experience with a wide variety of operating systems, educational, productivity, and telecommunications software. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to conduct research. Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of employees with various skill levels. Strong customer service skills Keen attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Must be comfortable working with heights either on a ladder or a lift. Skill and Knowledge – Desired: Experience with Microsoft M365 highly desirable. Prior experience in an educational environment.
