Key Responsibilities Assist high school leaders with developing accessible, equitable and robust career education programming for all high school students across Pembina Trails School Division. Provide divisional leadership with developmentally appropriate career education opportunities across early, middle and senior years programming. Provide leadership and support for the professional development of teachers demanded by the career programs created across the division. Increasing student/parental voice and engagement with high school course selections and career exploration through the use of myBlueprint career education software. Develop sustainable community-based opportunities and school resources for middle years students to increase awareness of the correlation of skills required to be successful at school and at work. Maintain awareness of labour market index projections and providing timely feedback to school leaders and their staff to assist with providing appropriate direction to students and parents for career planning purposes. Establish and oversee divisional best practices with procuring and facilitating safe career and community placements for all students, including students with neurodiversities. Demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with providing consultation to school leaders and school-based staff (L/W educators, Counsellors, Resource Teachers) ensuring student safety when extending student learning into the community. Assist with developing appropriate divisional career development goals, provide training, guidance and support to schools to ensure identified goals will be successfully met. Demonstrate strong project management skills and abilities with developing tools to lead and manage divisionally established career goals. Build capacity and provide in-service training to job coaches to work effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of ability. Provide training and support to staff across the division to increase staff and student usage of myBlueprint career education software. Build awareness and capacity in school leaders and their staff with experiential learning opportunities with: Apprenticeship (HSAP) Internships (CDI credits and extensions L/W 30, 40 credits) Paid employment benefits (CFE credits) Using L/W 30 & 40 programming to springboard experiential connections to post secondary options, career connections, volunteerism and philanthropic practice Develop and sustain partnerships with post-secondary facilities such as the University of Manitoba, USB, The University of Winnipeg and Red River College Polytech, and community organizations that will provide the experiential learning opportunities for students related to work and career such as Career Trek, CanU and Fort Whyte Farms. Career focused mentorship for students pursuing technical vocational education pathways in grades 11 and 12. Qualifications Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or equivalent). Minimum 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach adults using a non-evaluative, partnership-based approach. Experience supporting diverse learners, including EAL and students with complex needs. Proven ability to design and facilitate adult professional learning. Knowledge of Manitoba’s Indigenous Education frameworks, including but not limited to:Manitoba K–12 Indigenous Education Policy Framework Treaty Education Framework / Treaty Education Curriculum Outcomes Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action (Education) Divisional Indigenous Education priorities and Working in Good Ways approaches Additional training (post-baccalaureate, master’s degree) in curriculum, inclusion, or leadership is an asset.
