ATHLETICS AND HEALTHY LIVING SUPPORT

 

START DATE: September 8, 2026

 

Position Title: Athletics and Healthy Living Support

Department: Curriculum, Assessment and Learning Services

Reports To: Divisional Principal of Curriculum

Union Status: CUPE 5121

Location: Administration Office

Hours: Regular Part-Time (3.5 hours) – 10 month school year

Annual Salary Range: $31.59 - $38.00 depending on qualifications

Language Requirement: English

Purpose of Position

 

The Athletics and Healthy Living Support position will support the delivery of school sport, and healthy living programming across the division. They will work collaboratively with the Curriculum Consultant K to 12 – Physical Education and Health to ensure alignment and cohesive programming.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

· Plans, coordinates and schedules divisional physical activity events and sports that promote participation, skill development, and student engagement.

· Organizes league play and tournament schedules for early and middle years school sport (Grades 4 – 8), with support for high school programming as needed.

· Manages and maintains divisional equipment inventory, transportation of equipment and event-day logistics.

· Supports divisional organized and coordinated events with logistics, field setup, venue bookings, and awards distribution as required.

· Maintains clear and consistent divisional communications platforms (e.g., PHE portal, contact lists, shared calendars).

· Supports divisional event planning, promotion, and student-centered physical activity opportunities.

· Ensures divisional physical activity events align with divisional goals for inclusion, safety, accessibility, engagement and student well-being.

· Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the portfolio as directed by the Curriculum Consultant K to 12 – Physical Education and Health.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

Skill and Knowledge – Required:

 

· Grade 12 education or Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) and administrative training and a minimum of three years administrative assistant experience in positions of increased responsibilities in a multi-person office environment or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.

· Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and virtual meeting applications (TEAMS and Zoom).

· Exercises initiative and sound judgment and acts resourcefully to varying and emergency situations.

· Strong interpersonal and public relations skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, educators, school staff, and external partners.

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritize.

· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

· Excellent oral and written communication.

 

Skill and Knowledge – Desired:

 

· Experience in a large urban school division.

· Background in athletics and sport.

· Degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Recreation Management.

· Ability to communicate in both official languages, oral and written.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

 

· Travel to and from various Pembina Trails schools, work sites and event locations.

· Ability to work flexible hours such as evening and weekend work will be required.
