Job Description – Nutrition Coordinator - Ignite3 Program

 

 

 

Position Summary

 

The Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of food preparation, sanitary clean up/maintenance and service for the children and staff in the Ignite3 program.  This includes: planning nutritious menus, ordering the necessary food and supplies and preparing breakfast and lunch each day. The Nutrition Coordinator reports directly to the Ignite3 Program Coordinator at each school site.

 

There is one position available at each of these three sites:

  • Chancellor School
  • General Byng School
  • Prairie Sunrise School

 

Employment Period

 

July 2, 2026 to August 7, 2026

 

Hours of Work

 

  • 4 consecutive hours per day (Monday to Friday)
  • Work hours are 8:30AM-1:30PM Monday-Friday
  • Coordinators are entitled to one 15-minute coffee/rest break

 

Method of Payment

 

Time sheets will be submitted to the Administration office in accordance with the Schedule of Submissions.

 

Rate of Pay

 

$25 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Plan breakfast and menus following the new Canada Food Guide and Pembina Trails School Divisional nutritional policy
  • Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch each day including bagged lunches on field trip days
  • Prepare food for families and community members for special events
  • Knowledge of and commitment to food sanitation and kitchen safety
  • Must abide by provincial guidelines as outlined in Manitoba Food Handling Regulations
  • Order food and supplies from designated food suppliers
  • Adhere to outlined budgets
  • Submit all receipts to Program Coordinator at the end of each week
  • Participate in scheduled workshops and or training
  • Submit weekly menus, travel claims and invoices to Program Coordinator
  • Work with Program Coordinator, Learning Facilitators, and volunteers to develop breakfast and lunch routines

 

Qualifications

 

  • Experience working with children ranging from 6-18 years of age
  • Current and valid Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience making meals for large groups of 70+ people
  • Demonstrated experience planning and ordering food
  • Knowledge of allergies, other sensitivities including cultural considerations
  • Demonstrated experience in budgetary restrictions
  • Knowledge of and commitment to food sanitation and kitchen safety
  • Current and valid CPR & First Aid Certification

 

The successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Driver’s Abstract.
