Job Description – Learning Facilitator

 

Position Summary

 

Ignite3 is a summer learning experience that provides invited students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 with learning opportunities that complement and extend learning experiences that occurred throughout the school year. The Ignite3 summer programming is designed to maintain and/or increase literacy and numeracy skills through experiential learning.

 

Ignite3’s Learning Facilitators are responsible for the planning and implementation of the Ignite3 summer programming which has been designed to maintain and/or increase literacy and numeracy skills through hands-on learning. Through engaging, experiential learning activities, Ignite3 summer programming affords students the opportunity to have exposure and access to a variety of community connections and fieldtrips.  Learning Facilitators are required to deliver programming in a classroom with a group of 15-20 students at one of the school sites listed below.

 

Positions are available at one of these four sites:

 

  • Chancellor School
  • General Byng School
  • Prairie Sunrise School
  • Westgrove School

 

Employment Period

 

  • July 2, 2026, to August 07, 2026

 

Hours of Work

 

  • 7 consecutive hours per day (Monday to Friday)30-minute unpaid lunch break.
  • Program work hours are 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday

 

Method of Employment

 

Time sheets will be submitted to the Administration office in accordance with the Schedule of Submissions.

 

Rate of Pay

 

$24.04 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Co-plan and implement daily activities.
  • Coordinate with Learning Facilitators and Program Coordinators at all school sites.
  • Provide an environment that is physically and emotionally safe, using proactive and positive behaviour management approaches.
  • Supervise and distribute student snacks.
  • Liaise with community partners and service providers.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Background in early and middle years education which could include an in progress post-secondary certification, diploma, or degree.
  • Experience planning and delivering educational programs.
  • Knowledge of child and youth development.
  • Experience working in inclusive classroom environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, team teach, share ideas and co-plan lessons.
  • Current certification in First Aid & CPR. 

 

 

The successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Information Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and complete the Commit to Kids training.  An additional 11.5 hours of training is required prior to program commencement which will require flexible hours.  No additional compensation is provided for the training and is required to be completed by the candidates as a condition of employment.
