CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT RESEARCH OFFICER

 

START DATE:  As soon as possible

 

 

Position Title:  Continuous Improvement Research Officer

Department:  Curriculum, Assessment and Learning Services

Reports To:  Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum, Assessment and Learning Services

Union Status:  Out of Scope

Location:  Administration Office

Hours:  Regular Full-Time

Annual Salary Range:  $75,182 - $98,195 depending on qualifications

Language Requirement:  English

Purpose of Position

 

The incumbent in this position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Assessment and Learning Services and plays a key role in assisting divisional and school leaders to make evidence-based decisions through data gathering, analysis, interpretation, production, and evaluation. This focus on data will assist the Division in providing high quality programming that supports all students in achieving success.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists divisional and school staff with data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation (including demographic and enrolment projections for the division and schools).
  • Determines appropriate research/statistical analysis methods for projects and evaluations.
  • Ensures timely completion of research and progress on projects.
  • Works with the Assistant Superintendent to implement procedures to evaluate data that includes the configuration of data for analysis and collection.
  • Prepares and presents reports.
  • Provides transparency on the quality of findings related to statistical validity.
  • Reviews education research literature.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the efficient operation of the Department.

 

Skills and Qualifications

 

Skill and Knowledge – Required:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a major (preferred) or minor in mathematics.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, specializing in research methods and statistics, and 3 or more years’ experience conducting research projects and performing statistical analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment with a demonstrated ability to collaborate and provide expert advice and guidance.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to do presentations when needed.
  • Ability to analyze, classify, and synthesize information.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a high degree of initiative and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and abilities with Power BI and ability to learn various divisional platforms.

 

Skill and Knowledge – Desired:

 

  • Ability to code and structure data.
  • Aptitude and experience in the application of cognitive computing in research and statistical analysis.
  • Experience in a school division.
  • Experience working in the public sector including a demonstrated commitment to the development and support of a learning community that includes shared decision-making.
  • The ability to communicate in both official languages, oral and written.
