Purpose of Position
The Courier is responsible for maintaining reliable, efficient delivery services of all daily mail, materials and equipment for the entire Division.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Provides and maintains reliable and efficient mail services for the entire Division.
· Sorts internal mail for efficient routing prior to delivery.
· Delivers daily mail, materials and equipment for all departments to the various destinations as directed by supervisor.
· Obtains signatures for receipt of goods upon delivery as required.
· Provides courier service as may be required outside of the Division.
· Performs minor maintenance on vehicles and equipment as may be required.
· Assists maintenance staff as may be required during the downtime for courier service (i.e. Christmas, Spring & Summer breaks).
· Maintains a positive working relationship with educational staff, students and fellow staff members.
· Performs other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
· Must possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License and have a good driving record.
· Must possess sufficient oral and written English language communication skills to perform the duties of the position.
· Must possess the ability to identify, organize and prioritize tasks to achieve efficiency in the day-to-day operations of the position.
· Must possess the ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
· Must possess a record of effective and positive interaction with students, staff, public and co-workers.
· Must have the ability to work co-operatively as a team member.
· Must possess the ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
· Work involves some standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
· Ability to lift objects weighing more than 25 kgs.
· May be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, fumes, and hazardous/poisonous chemicals.
· On occasion may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including weekend or evening work with short or no notice.
· Provide emergency response outside of regular work hours when required.
